Bosses can be untrusting of their staff compliancy and effectiveness while working from home. Understandably, they might feel out of the loop or not in control when having multiple workers toiling away at home.
So, if you want to show your boss you are a hardworking professional who takes their job seriously no matter where you are performing it, follow these tips:
Constant communication. Ask your in-line how they would like you to keep them in the know and updated. By simply doing this on a weekly or even daily basis. You will create a sense of trust and open communication.
Make suggestions. Suggest a weekly and brief conference, a daily phone call, or even a WhatsApp text with the most relevant details of the day. Start managing up harder. Do not wait for your boss to ask you for updates or explanations about anything. Instead, provide and make information available to your teammates and boss. Working from home presents an ideal opportunity to show your self-management skills.
Create clarity. Clear communication on work-related matters answers these questions: Is everything progressing as planned? Are there any problems? Do you need support? Make sure your updates are solution-oriented and are not only creating drama and conflict. Offer alternative and creative ways to tackle problems the organization or team is experiencing.
Take to Social Media. If your co-workers or boss follow you on your media outlets, use that to your advantage. Post a story of your desk when it is full of documents or when you finish a task. Share a photo of your latest accomplishment and tag your peers or share your calendar. There are several ways to make this fun and interactive. Be creative but stay professional.
Working from home doesn't mean you cannot showcase how hardworking you are. Demonstrate your skills and talent, and help your career move forward from the comforts of your home.
